Tiger Woods‘s walk at Augusta will be one of the most anticipated moments of the 2024 Masters. The GOAT is ready to take his 6th green jacket and it is further solidified by the 1992 Masters champion Fred Couples. Couples boldly declared that Woods is not just willing to make the cut but “he’s here to win.”
Despite bad weather predictions at Masters, Couples believe that Woods will not have any issues walking and braving the storm. “He never mis-hits a shot” and his tenaciousness will be a key factor in his performance this year. Needless to say, his love for the game has become part of his daily life.
Couples think the idea of just making the cut is enough of a reason to make the GOAT burst into laughter “because he’s not here to” simply make an appearance. He assured his performance will be worth looking out for as his nine-hole shot was pinpointed on Tuesday.
Can he win here? You know what, yeah…He’s here to play really, really hard…he’s going to walk 72 holes, and if he keeps playing like that, he’ll be a factor.Fred Couples as per Ryan Gaydos of Fox News.
He further spoke about the LIV-PGA divide and what he thinks as players from both sides will take the field on Thursday. Fred Couples notes that he has never understood the Saudi league and “don’t think I’ll ever understand it.” He says he understands why players will pick the 54 holes “but let me tell you, if the LIV Tour is better for golf, I’m missing something there.”
He’s comfortable to see the PGA defectors back in Augusta, especially Jon Rahm, as Couples notes, “Jon Rahm is a tremendous champion of this tournament,” and no one has any issues with him making the cut. However, he is sick and tired of hearing the PGA-LIV comparison and doesn’t want the golf division to ruin the Masters event.
So please don’t tell me the LIV Tour is as good as the PGA Tour. I don’t want to hear it.Fred Couples on X.
Tiger Woods confident as The Masters 2024 signals it’s start
Tiger Woods‘ health will undoubtedly be the key factor in him making into the top list at The Masters or even winning his 6th green jacket. The GOAT was forced to withdraw from last year’s event due to plantar fasciitis. He even announced his early exit at the Genesis Invitational this year.
However, the 15x Majors winner is ready to leave his mark once again in golf history. When asked why he keeps pushing despite health limitations Woods replied, “I love golf.” Especially The Masters has been an important part of him and his family.
I love competing, and I love that feeling when everything's on fire with a chance to win and you either you do or you don't.Tiger Woods as per Ryan Gaydos of Fox News.
Looking back to his childhood, Woods mentions his father and how he hugged the young golfer back when he first won his Masters event in 1997. He recalled how he had his full circle moment in 2019 when he hugged his son Charlie just like that day in 1997. He’ll have another chance to recreate the same moment if he wins the 2024 event.
