“Golf should be about this” LIV Golf Boss Greg Norman BOMBARDS verbal slanders on PGA

LIV Golf chairman Greg Norman has thanked Spanish golfer Jon Rahm after he congratulated his compatriot Eugenio Lopez-Chacarra for winning his maiden pro title at the LIV Golf Bangkok Invitational. Rahm has been an ardent critic of LIV golf.

“This is what professional golf should be all about,” Norman wrote below a video of Rahm’s speech on Twitter. “Thank you @JonRahmpga for your classy message. Players supporting players. We are all golfers!” In recent times, Rahm has become more lenient in his stance on LIV golf while professing that players from the Saudi-backed rebel league should be picked by captains and allowed to compete in the Ryder Cup.

“The Ryder Cup is not the PGA Tour and European Tour against LIV – it’s Europe versus the US, period. The best of each against the other, and for me the Ryder Cup is above all. I wish they could play but it doesn’t look good,” Rahm said.

Norman has been subject to a lot of criticism from various golfing professionals, both current and former, after he decided to join LIV golf as CEO. There have been questions on the league’s source of money and conjectures that Saudi Arabia is using golf and other sports as a mask to cover its other illegal activities pertaining to human rights.

Norman recently revealed that there are times when he feels really bad over affected relationships between him and his golfing friends since he started heading the rebel Saudi-backed league.

“To be honest with you, at times, my heat shield gets a little weak,” Norman told TV host Piers Morgan on his show“I am a human being. I’ve done a lot for the game of golf. I was the No 1 player in the world for six years. I’ve done things for the game, I’ve promoted the game, I’ve grown it. So when they do these things…,” Norman explained.

Former golfer Norman said he hates it when people get pressurized by others and start seeing things differently, especially when LIV golf had a good business going which could be good for the sport.

“My moral line is I believe in the product. My moral line is I’ve been a staunch promoter of growing the game of golf on a global basis. My moral line is golf is the force for good,” the Australian golfer-turned-entrepreneur said.

“It is so resonatingly powerful to see the strength of what the game of golf can do in different countries around the world, to change the economy of things, to change the hospitality, to change tourism… all these little ingredients that golf is the initial reason why you could change these,” he added.
