PGA defector Harold Varner III boldly slammed fellow LIV Golfers for having hidden agenda behind his move to the Saudi-backed league. Prior to the start of The Masters’ Tournament, Varner stated how he has never hidden his true motive behind his move and has no issues with stating it out loud. 

Varner claimed that while making their move to LIV, many golfers claimed they wish to grow the game, while in turn, all they wanted was to “growing their pockets”. During his interview with the Washington Post, he further delved into the matter further while slamming them.

Since its arrival back in 2022, LIV and PGA war has never ceased to calm down. Augusta National’s decision to let the PGA defectors participate in The Masters led to the golfers facing each other for the first time since their rift.

The 18 LIV Golfers have come face to face with their former PGA teammates as they grace the greens with their incredible performance. The LIV offered quite an enticing note for top players worldwide. Not only did they offer a large sum of money, but they also reduced to 14 events with only 54 holes to play.

Harold Varner III expressed that he joined the Saudi-backed league as it offered him a large sum of money that helped him support his family, “The truth is, my life is changing. The opportunity to join LIV Golf is too good of a financial breakthrough for me to pass by.” 

“I know what it means to grow up without much. This money is going to ensure that my kid and future Varners will have a solid base to start on. I’m still me. I promise you that.” “I play golf so I can change the direction of my family’s life. And that’s it”.

Varner goes on to slam LIV Golfers like Dustin Johnson, and Phil Mickelson stating, they are not growing the game, but instead growing their pockets. “They’re full of s***”. “They’re growing their pockets. I tell them all the time, all of them: You didn’t come here to f***ing grow the f***ing game.” 

Varner said pointing at the LIV players that he knew what he was signing for and that he has no regrets regarding his move. He went on to say, he’s fine he is dropping out of OWGR or, from important events like The Masters for that matter. 

Varner snaps at PGA defectors stating, “But some of these motherf******, they want their cake and eat it too, I guess. Like, dude, you knew it was going to be bad. Like going against the f****** U.S. government: Good luck, man.”

Varner also said that PGA Tour players are jealous of the LIV Golf so their recent changes came according to that. PGA also started filling the purses of their players after the LIV came into existence. According to Harold Varner III, “They’re just mad that you’re f***ing with their money. I think some people are jealous, and that’s just the way it is”.
