“Was a long morning” – Here’s why Scottie Scheffler ‘cried like a baby’ on final day of Masters
Scottie Scheffler wins the Masters
The latest champion of the Masters tournament Scottie Scheffler has made some shocking revelations about how he felt ahead of the final round. Notably, the current World Number 1 in the Official World Golf Ranking won his first major in style, taking the green jacket after firing one last one-under-par 71 in order to finish 72 holes on 10-under.
During a recent interaction with CNN, weeks after the prestigious tournament, Scheffler stated that everything was going haywire on the morning of the final day. The New Jersey native commenced by mentioning that he first spilt food inside his car, which was really frustrating.
“We (Scheffler and his wife, Meredith) went and got some food. I spilled my dinner in the car on the way home, and that was extraordinarily frustrating,” a smiling Scheffler told the media.
He added: “You can see Meredith is still laughing at me. She thought it was the funniest thing ever; I didn’t think it was so funny at the time.”
“I cried like a baby… Was so stressed out”
The 25-year-old Scheffler went on to reveal that he was so overwhelmed with the pressure that he could not resist crying and had no idea what to do. However, he mentioned that Meredith helped him mentally making him up his mind.
“I cried like a baby this morning. I was so stressed out,” Scottie explained. “I didn’t know what to do.
“I was sitting there telling Meredith: ‘I don’t think I’m ready for this. I’m not ready, I don’t feel like I’m ready for this kind of stuff,’ and I just felt overwhelmed. She told me: ‘Who are you to say that you are not ready?’ Gosh, it was a long morning,” he signed off.
