“Why did he bother to take his home circuit to court?”: Ian Poulter slammed after poor performance despite DP Tour ban overturn
Ian Poulter
The 2022 Scottish Open was certainly an entertaining one, with drama filling the entire tournament over various golfers and their performances. Ian Poulter sadly, did not enjoy his home circuit after a disappointing performance that sent him into humiliation. For both Justin Harding, and Poulter, the Scottish Open was an awkward situation after they had to take legal action to get there.
After both golfers joined the LIV Series, the DP World Tour imposed a ban on all golfers who had defected, not allowing them to play the Scottish Open. However, this spiked anger amongst the golfers as they decided to take legal action against the DP World Tour. Ian Poulter, who slumped to an eight-over par 78 on the east coast of Scotland- certainly did not make a good impression on anyone after fighting so hard off course to be allowed to play.

Ian Poulter slammed by golf enthusiasts for poor performance, Cameron Triangle equals course record
Ian Poulter was slammed for his performance by the Telegraph’s James Corrigan, who said “Ian Poulter must wonder why he bothered to take his home circuit to court. The Englishman battled to have his Scottish Open ban overturned on Monday night, but under 70 hours later shot an eight-over 78 that saw him fall 16 shots behind the leader and in a tie for 151st in the 160-man field. DP World Tour chief executive Keith Pelley would not be human if he did not allow himself, at the very least, a smirk at Poulter’s troubles in the first round of the Scottish Open,” according to Fox Sports.
Cameron Tringale on the other hand, had quite the Scottish Open. He shot a spectacular 61 in the first round of the Scottish Open on Friday. The American, who has yet to win a tournament, started the back nine with six successive birdies to reach nine under par. He needed to play the last three holes in two under to shoot just the second 59 in the history of the DP World Tour. However, after a valiant effort he finished with a 61, equalling the course record set by Bernd Wiesberger in 2019.
