The past few weeks in golf have centered around the return of Tiger Woods. Considered as the greatest of all time (G.O.A.T) of golf, the 47-year-old athlete made his return from injury last Thursday at the Hero World Challenge. During this event, Woods was spotted using some different sneakers apart from the Nike one, leading to speculation regarding the future of the duo.

Nike has been in partnership with Woods for more than two decades. In this time, Woods has never missed the opportunity to wear their shoes and appeal at golfing events. A golf insider has now dropped a huge claim regarding the legendary partnership between the golfer and the company.

As per the ‘No Laying Up‘ podcast, the 82-time PGA Tour winner could end his partnership and part ways with the company. The report has also claimed that the upcoming PNC Championship next week could be the last time the golfer wears Nike appeal.

Why is Tiger Woods not wearing Nike footwear anymore?

In the long history of golf, several players have come by and shined on the big stage. However, very few have charmed the audience quite like Tiger Woods. Despite his age and decline in form, fans are always eager to see him return and perform.

Like any other professional player, Woods has dealt with his fair share of injuries. In the past few years though, he has missed a lot of action, especially after the horrific car crash in 2021 which left many praying for his health. Since this incident, Woods has stopped wearing Nike footwear at golfing events. But why did he do so?

The reason Woods gave was simple. He once explained that the FootJoy shoes helped him in being more stable on the golf course than the Nike ones. He also added that this was because of the injuries he suffered from the car crash in Los Angeles in 2021.

Following these words from Woods, Nike claimed that they are happy to see him return to the golf course and are working on shoes that would help him. Before his return at the Hero World Challenge last week, Nike released a new pair of Tiger Woods ’13 “Masters” shoes, which soon left the fans awestruck.

It now remains to be seen how this situation pans out. If the rumor turns out to be true, it could be the end of a long-standing partnership that had dominated the sporting realm in the past two decades.
