If anyone’s wondering why John Daly’s reign stopped in 1994 before continuing, hold still, as the golfing champion reveals the real reason behind his failed attempt. Recently, Daly’s accomplishment graphic was shared by the social media team of Golf Digest.

The graphic showed that the golfer reigned 11 times before pausing at his 12th win. His 1994 spot was snatched by Davis Love III, as he led the PGA Tour during that time. The reason wasn’t so shocking considering we take a deeper look into Daly’s professional career.

According to Daly, he was suspended in 1994 and didn’t get to hit enough drives. During his professional years, he was well-known for his driving distance off the tee, his long backswing, and his mullet-rocking, chain-smoking attitude.

The power-hitting phenomenon didn’t come to a stop as John Daly kept stacking his points up the road. He led the PGA Tour in driving distance 11 times starting from 1991 to 2002. He dominated the league 11 times but failed to accomplish his 12th win which would have earned him the honor of leading the Tour 12 straight seasons. Throughout his career, he has made the League stand on its toes.

That being said, none of the golf fans are unaware of Daly’s antics. He’s been quite active on the greens which led him to get suspense quite a few times. Suspensions and Daly are old friends who have walked quite a distance.

Daly remembers how he had to sit out in 1994 due to a pesky suspension. Due to different transgressions, he’s faced warnings and suspensions both at the beginning and the end of the year. This affected his overall score greatly.

In 1994, he recorded an average of 290.2 yards off the tee in 17 events and 51 rounds. Whereas, Love III had not more than 6.4 yards. Although Daly averaged more than Davis Love III. His suspensions put his case down.

Ironically another pro-golfer got his name up in the Top  3 list. It’s Fred Couples who played 51 rounds that year with an average of 279.9. Unfortunately, if Daly wouldn’t be suspended twice, he would have recorded his name as the leading star for a long time.
