PGA Tour player John Daly has successfully undergone knee surgery which was pending since the PNC Championship. He updated earlier that in order to prolong his golf career, he needed to take the medical step, though it wasn’t more important than the recent championship.
He and his son John Daly II took part in the championship, snatching the 2nd position after Team Singh. The pair lost to two strokes against Vijay Singh and his son Qass. On his social media page, he noted that he’s now “up and running”.
Only recovery and rehab are now on the way before the 56-year-old steps again on the green fields. Daly also gave a shout-out to his hospital doctor and nurses on his Instagram page captioning, “Y’all are the best”.
John Daly noted that participating in PNC was important than his surgery
As per Golf.com, John Daly stated after the PNC Championship, “I’m getting my knee replacement done Wednesday, full knee replacement. So I’ll be out for a while.” Just like Tiger Woods, Daly put importance to play with his son.
Similar to his condition, Woods also suffered from plantar fasciitis while his son Charlie endured “growing pains”. They took the help of the carts to go around the field. Daly stated that he can understand what Woods has been going through.
The veteran noted, “I can’t imagine how much pain [Woods is] in, but I know mine.” “It’s no fun when you can’t walk and can’t turn and be able to get out and practice enough.” During the championship, Daly accepted the role of the saddle while his son played the role of the horse.
“I’m a little banged up, but I’ll be in the saddle. He’ll be the horse”. The unstoppable veteran may emerge as a more powerful opponent after his full recovery. During his glorious days, he won his first Major Championship in 1991. He went on to further conquests, to add more accolades to his already decorative collection.
The PNC championship portrayed the strong family bonds that Tiger Woods and John Daly showcased. Both injured players took the fields even after knowing that’ll make their condition worse. Tiger Woods didn’t take the center stage in the competition but noted that competing with his son is already a win in his book.
