The golf world is nothing without some of its most iconic players. While golfers like Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson bring the technicalities in golf, it is others like John Daly who bring in the flair. While he might not be one of the most elite golfers, he is certainly one of the most loved.
The former PGA Championship and Open Championship winner however, is currently going through a rough time, especially health wise. His fan base though, has had his back for a long time, and it has been no different this time. After a series of rather disappointing appearances, Daly was all ready to take another shot at the Sanford International Cup.
However, things did not quite go his way. After a good first day, John Daly kicked off quite a good day 2 as well. Unfortunately for him, it would be the last day of his play for quite a long time. After struggling massively due to an unknown injury, Daly retired from the International after just 6 holes.
Daly revealed the reason for his withdrawal later on Twitter, saying that a knee injury had forbidden him from moving forward. “Saddens me that I had to WD from the @SanfordIntl …I know the fans knew I was in pain. Looking like surgery on my left knee. I do know these are some of the greatest fans! Be back next year healed up! Luv & will miss y’all!” he said on Twitter.
