Jon Rahm grabs his first green jacket at The Masters, leaving LIV Golfers Brooks Koepka and Phil Mickelson behind. Koepka collapsed in Rahm’s shadow on Sunday despite having a 2-shot lead in the final round. Rahm’s brilliant performance synchronized with the perfect date, as Seve Ballesteros celebrated his 66th birthday.

Rahm secured his 2nd major title with a 4-shot win at Augusta National. Some noted that Koepka’s stale performance on Sunday inspired the Spaniard to push through the greens. While Rahm snatched the first spot, Koepka grabbed the 2nd with Phil Mickelson tying for the same.

Regardless of his second place, Koepka believes this Masters Tournament sent a clear message that LIV Golfers aren’t just “washed up” as three of them landed in the Top 5 place in the event. Koepka led Rahm by 2-shot in the final round, before ending in 2nd place behind the Spaniard.

Phil Mickelson, the 6-time Major champion, shared the same place with Koepka with 8-under. LIV Golfer Patrick Reed grabbed the 4th spot, lingering behind his fellow league mates. Rahm, grabbing his green jacket thanked his friends while taking a jab at NFL star Zach Ertz.

Thursday’s start at The Masters was far from ideal for the Spain native Jon Rahm. He started the tournament with a 4-putt for a double bogey on the first hole but quickly bounced back. Rahm finished the first-round tie with Viktor Hovland and Brooks Koepka for first place at 7-under.

It was only after winning The Masters, that Rahm could look back at taking a jab at his friend Zach Ertz, the NFL star. Rahm recalled the text he had received from the Arizona Cardinals tight end, “He sent me a text, and I’m gonna paraphrase…”

“…that said ‘That first green is looking like a walk in the park right now’ 10 minutes before I four-putted to start the tournament”. “So thank you Zach. Don’t ever do that again, please,” Rahm said during his victory speech. The champion was full of smiles as he asked Zach not to do that again.

Zach on the other hand, pledged on Twitter that he’ll do that again if it helps his friend gather more majors titles, “I apologize for absolutely nothing! You can expect these texts every major going forward my friend! Congratulations!”.

While celebrations took over social media and on greens, fans couldn’t help but recall how Rahm and Koepka had to wait on just about every tee, as the first group played “brutally slow”. The blame landed on Patrick Cantlay, as the American is notorious for his slow starts.

Koepka commented, “That group in front of us was brutally slow. Jon went to the bathroom like seven times during the round and we were still waiting.” Golf fans noted that there were instances where Cantlay’s playing partner Viktor Hovland had to “send a message” to take his shot.

Koepka further commented on competing with PGA players after moving to LIV, “I mean, we’re still the same people. If I’m healthy I know I can compete and I don’t think any of the players that played this event thought otherwise either.”

When Phil plays good you know he’s going to compete. P Reed same thing . I think that’s just manufactured by the media that we can’t compete and we’re washed up.”

I guess it is kinda fractured just from the fan’s perspective but as far as us, I think everybody saw it this week. We’re all .. it’s nice to see everybody, there’s no hard feelings pretty much and I think that’s the way everybody should see it.
