“TOUCH ME NOT!”- Jon Rahm is on a break after CJ Cup debacle

Jon Rahm

Jon Rahm was in scintillating form and came into the CJ Cup as a favorite to win. Although the tournament made itself into an unofficial world no.1 contest between former ace Rory Mcllroy and the present no.1 Scottie Scheffler. However, with no disrespect, Rahm himself was in contention for winning the CJ Cup in South Carolina.

Rory Mcllroy who won the tournament reclaiming his world no. 1 title after battling it out with Kurt Kitayama, it seems the CJ cup gave fans what they were craving. However, amidst all this was a struggling Jon Rahm who for some reason couldn’t get his mojo going.

Jon arrived at Congaree Golf Club in South Carolina in top form and brimming with confidence. However, during the course of the tournament, his performance and stats kept on declining. “Listen, with how bad I felt Thursday morning, if you told me I was going to shoot 14 under, I wouldn’t believe you, I’m not gonna lie,” said Rahm on Sunday.

The 27-year-old confessed that he requires some “very much needed” time to focus on himself and his game. Safe to say, we won’t be seeing Jon for some time on the PGA Tour. Jon’s 62 was his best score all through the week but with a 36-hole lead, he couldn’t cope with the expectations and dropped to a 70-69 score. “That nine-under-par round was something I never expected” – stated a dejected John Rahm.

The other three rounds are pretty much how I felt, battled out to shoot a couple under par because the swing wasn’t quite there. It was good off the tee, but my iron game just wasn’t good” Jon Rahm explained about his performance. It seems fatigue gets to us all at some point in life. Jon Rahm would be looking to quickly bounce off this phase and get back to his playing prime as the fans sure love the competition of the best playing against the best.
