The 2023 Genesis Invitational at the Riviera is certainly becoming one that is interesting to watch. Non stop action has seen close competition, fun friendships and an intense lead taking tussle. Jon Rahm however, seems to be making easy work of it while having a good time too.

Rahm has been steadily climbing his way up the leaderboard, with an opening of 65. Now comfortably at the top, Rahm is taking a seat to watch his favourite player take the course- Tiger Woods. The golfing legend is making a comeback after 8 months of break, and needless to say, the world is excited.

Rahm is particularly excited to watch the PGA stop at Riviera this year. Known to keep a close eye on his competition, this time Rahm is watching purely out of interest. The atmosphere because of Woods has been the best one in a long time. Hoards of fans have come to see the legend come play once again on the grand stage.

“Listen, it’s not officially a major championship, but feel-wise this is comparable to a major championship,” he said. “When you have Tiger as a host and this golf course as a venue, this tournament’s always had a great field. The last few years we’ve had every single player in the top-10 in the world and many in the top-50 in the world. It might be a little bit better feel-wise, very slightly better this year.” He said that the competition was now starting to feel like a Major.

Rahm’s desire to win in this atmosphere is only increasing as the days go by. After top 10 finishes in the last two Invitationals, Rahm is now looking to clinch the title once and for all. “It’s a golf course where you need to strike the golf ball well, you need to move it both ways from tee to green which is obviously usually my forte and that’s why I think I’ve had success here,” Jon Rahm said.

“But in the past, haven’t really gone to the back nine with a chance to win in this tournament and I would love to give myself a chance.” But Rahm will face tough competition to say the least. 23 of the top 25 golfers are here on field, including the likes of Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy. The fight will be a tough one, and the winner will get well deserved bragging rights.
