Jon Rahm found himself in an awkward golfing moment during the LIV Golf Jeddah tournament when he prematurely praised Phil Mickelson‘s shot, causing a humorous turn of events on the course. Despite Rahm’s early compliment, Mickelson managed to salvage a tricky situation and even found humor in the mishap.

As the competition unfolded at Royal Greens Golf & Country Club, it was clear that Rahm was in fine form, showcasing his game once again and sharing the early lead with Adrian Meronk. However, during this he committed a cardinal golf sin.

During the event, Rahm complimented Mickelson by saying ,”Good shot, Phil.” The ball though landed close to the rocks near the greens, leaving the six-time major champion in a troublesome position.

I felt horrible... We saw it land, I gave it the courtesy second or two, and then I said, 'Good shot, Phil'. And then the next time I look up, the ball is going down off the green.

Rahm did not seem pleased by himself for the words he used. Luckily, for him, Mickelson still had some trick up his sleeve and chipped in a stunning shot to make a three.

Reflecting on the incident later, Rahm confessed to his internal dilemma as he walked alongside Mickelson, contemplating whether to address the mishap. Yet, amidst the laughter that ensued from Mickelson’s chip-in, Rahm seized the opportunity to explain his unintentional premature praise.

Jon Rahm forces apology from LIV Golf commentator after impassioned outburst

Jon Rahm’s fiery temperament was on display once again during the LIV Golf circuit, forcing an apology from a commentator for his language. The former world No. 1, now a key figure for the Legion XIII team, couldn’t contain his frustration after a missed putt in Round two in Jeddah.

Rahm has been known for this. In several events last season, he could been losing the cool with his play and yelling on the greens. This time, once again the emotions got the better of him. He was heard shouting and dropping the f-word.

The incident didn’t escape the attention of the commentator, who responded to Rahm’s frustration with a lighthearted “Fiddlesticks!” over the mic. The commentator would later apologize for the foul language heard by viewers.

This is one thing Rahm may have to work on in the near future. Currently, the Spanish star finds himself in the mix of another top finish in LIV Jeddah. He will have this and the upcoming LIV Hong Kong event to get ready for the defense of his The Masters title in April.
