The world of golf is in buzz following the announcement of Tiger Woods joining the policy board meeting. Former world number one Justin Thomas has expressed his excitement on the appointment of the living legend.

On Tuesday, the PGA Tour informed the world about the development of Tiger Woods. The living golfing legend is now the sixth player to join as player director in the PGA Tour policy board. Former World number and a good friend, Justin Thomas has now shared his excitement regarding this scenario.

Thomas is going through a rough pace at the moment. The two-time major champion has had a disappointing year. He has missed cuts in five of his seven last starts and is now on the verge of losing his spot at the FedEx and Ryder Cup. Despite his personal shortcomings, Thomas is happy for the golf great and expressed his confidence in him.

Gearing up for the Wyndham Championship, Thomas said “I’m obviously excited to have Tiger on behalf of the players.” Thomas went on to add that Woods takes the tour very seriously and wants the best for the tour. Woods will join the likes of Rory McIlroy and Patrick Cantlay along with Charley Hoffman, Webb Simpson, and Peter Malnati on the policy board.

The board also comprises of six other directors. However, one spot is still up for grabs in this as former AT&T Chairman and CEO Randall Stephenson tendered his resignation. He claimed the shock merger between the PGA and LIV Golf as a reason for his leave.

Justin Thomas claims Tiger Woods wants the PGA Tour to grow and succeed

The friendship between Tiger Woods and Justin Thomas goes back way. The duo have been seen together on multiple occasions playing or practicing. They have also shared several banter with each other in the years gone by. Thomas not only stated that he is excited for Woods to join the tour board, he claimed the golf veteran wants to see the Tour succeed.

It would be pretty easy for him to just hide under a rock and the rest of his life will be just fine. But that’s not who he is, he wants to continue to see the PGA Tour grow and succeed,” Thomas added. He also jokingly admitted that they can not keep Woods just sitting on the couch. The 15-time major champion has been sidelined by several injuries for a long time.

As per reports, this announcement of Woods becoming the sixth player director comes after a combined effort. Woods along with 41 other players sent a letter to commissioner Jay Monahan and expressed their concerns. The Tour has made no statement regarding this but such a swift response from them has raised questions in the eyes of golf faithful.
