The civil war between PGA Tour and LIV Golf is heating up as the days are passing by. The war of words between Tour and the controversial league is adding fuel to fire.
The latest entrant to this war of words is Majed Al Sorour. Majed is a Saudi businessman who is very close to Saudi’s Royal family and is also Saudi’s Golf Federation CEO.
Majed Al Sorour in his latest interview has shocked the golfing community as he stated that he will “create my own majors” if the PGA tries to boycott LIV Golfers from competing in the future. Majed played a key role in founding a now-defunct rebel group that drove a wedge into the heart of golf.

‘F*** the Masters’: LIV Golf slams PGA Tour once again

His latest claim is that he would “celebrate” the entry ban on LIV golfers in the Masters, US Open, Open, and USPGA. “For now, the majors are siding with the Tour, and I don’t know why,” Sorour said. “If the majors decide not to have our players play? I will celebrate. I will create my own majors for my players. Honestly, I think all the tours are being run by guys who don’t understand business.”
This statement didn’t go well and was met with strong criticism. Golf writer Dan Rapaport was quite vocal and said:
“I’ve long wondered, and I’ve spoken about this publicly, what’s stopping the Saudis from, if the majors continue to hold firm, simply saying ‘f— the Masters, I’m going to have my own Masters on the same weekend and quadruple the purse?”,” he wrote.
“There’s nothing stopping them, and now it’s clear that Sorour’s at least considered the possibility. Make no mistake: this is how a sport dies,” he added.
The World Ranking Points debate is also one of the reasons that both leagues are at the loggerheads. LIV golfers do not earn official world ranking points, which are key for qualifying for the majors.
LIV rebels are currently fighting over whether they can compete in the iconic quartet of traditional tournaments.
