One name that has been on the rise in the golfing world recently is Ludvig Aberg. The 23-year-old Swedish prodigy has taken the golf world by storm. He showed off his class at the Omega European Masters and won the tournament in convincing style. He is now looking for back-to-back wins after firing an impressive 6-under 66 during the third round of the BMW PGA Championship.

Following his impressive win at the European Masters, he was selected as the last pick for the Ryder Cup. This saw a huge debate on social media as Adrian Meronk became the guy to lose his place in the tournament. He is now proving the decision of Luke Donald to be correct with another strong performance.

Despite suffering a slight mishap at the 13th hole, Aberg was able to find a way to turn things around. The mistake at this hole saw him lose the two-shot lead he had. He kept himself composed and showed great character afterwards.

At the 15th hole, he pulled clear of the chasing pack once again. He would eventually finish the day with a score of 66. It could have been lower if he had not lost the ball at the 13th hole. He will now enter the final day leading by two shots and look to close in on the win and bag successive championship titles.

The star of Ludvig Aberg continues to shine bright

The one thing every professional player dreams about is making an immediate impact. It is one of the hardest things to do. However, Ludvig Aberg has done just that in his first professional year as a golfer. His appearance at the BMW PGA Championship is just his tenth start in his career. He now has the chance to clinch the biggest victory of his short career so far with a triumph on Sunday. He himself is left stunned by his performance. When asked if he could believe what was happening, he would say, “I think both yes and no.”

“I think if you could ask me if I could do it, I’d probably say yes, But to do it in this kind of fashion is pretty cool,” he was quoted by SI. What makes his performance even more standout is that he is not doing it against some of those who only play on the DP World Tour. He is doing it against some multi-time major winners in the form of Jon Rahm and Rory McIlroy.

All twelve members of the Europe Ryder Cup, along with captain Luke Donald took part in this event. All of them made the cut. If he is able to hold off the chasers and walk away as the winner, it would be a real statement from him that could silence some of his doubters.
