Matt Fitzpatrick has now opened about being in the PGA Tour 2K23 video game and how he used to play as Tiger Woods every time while growing up.

The rise of sporting video games has seen a lot of companies bring out new stuff to keep the fans entertained. While the likes of EA FC 24 and NBA 2K dominate the sporting video game realm, there are some who enjoy the PGA 2K23 Tour. One of them is golfer Matt Fitzpatrick himself who was recently informed about this. He later went on to shed light on his favorite player, Tiger Woods.

The golf veteran is arguably one of the greatest players the world of golf has seen. His performances since his debut have made him a superstar in the sporting world. So it is no surprise that Woods would have the highest rating among players available in a video game. Fitzpatrick has now shown his admiration towards him and claimed he always picked him.

Woods had been the cover star of the game developed by renowned company Electronic Arts (EA). The game franchise was titled around Woods with the year as in “Tiger Woods PGA Tour” followed by the year number. Since the 1999 edition, he had been the cover athlete till the 2014 edition, thus further signaling his status as one of the best in the business.

Fitzpatrick was recently at the 2K’s headquarters in London. He their admitted that he “always played as Tiger Woods,” while growing up. He further went on to claim that his favorite course on the new game is the one Woods designed – the Pane Valley.

One thing that makes video games special is the ability to create the character as per the player’s desire. In sports video games, players have the option to do that and add their customized version to the games. English golfer Matt Fitzpatrick claims he used to do it before but now that he is in the game, he is happy and calls it “pretty special“.

The 29-year-old is one of the many golf stars including Jon Rahm and Justin Thomas to name a few. Speaking about this through Golf Monthly he said:

"It's awesome, yeah growing up playing video games and to be in one myself is pretty special really. I think he'd [12-year-old Matt] be amazed. It'd be very bizarre but yeah I think growing up I always remember playing video games and thinking 'It'd be amazing if you could be on the game.' You'd always create yourself so to be on there is pretty cool."

Judging by his words, Fitzpatrick seems to be enjoying this time lately. The 2022 US Open winner had a great time in Rome at the Ryder Cup where he helped his team claim the trophy back. His eyes are now set on the TGL, owned by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, which will begin in January 2024. Which team will he play on will be decided later.
