Michael Phelps in an interview shared who he wants in his dream foursome golf team. While he is sure about adding GOATs Tiger Woods and Michael Jordan, he is unsure who to pick as the fourth member. Although he states he has “never played with Tiger” the trio would have fun as “the sh*t talking that we would have would be incredible.”

He admits playing with MJ before, as for who could potentially be the fourth member is “a hard one” to crack. Since retirement from the swimming world in 2016, Phelps has often been seen practicing in his swings on the course. He revealed how confidence is something he learned during his career and it helps to keep moving forward.

“I believe I can do something,” Phelps noted. Just like in swimming, he states that golf is also the same. “Hit two or three bad shots” and it can get stuck in the head making one extremely frustrated. It’s all in the learning process and “try to figure out what the basics are to hit a golf ball.”

Michael Phelps recalls playing golf with Michael Jordan at charity event

Following his goodbye to swimming days, Michael Phelps credits golf for becoming that “competitive force and a way for me to channel that energy nowadays.” He recalls what it’s like playing the sport with NBA legend Michael Jordan on the course.

Phelps labels MJ as “a great human” and moments spent with him “has been really fun and special for me.” He talked about the charity event at Aria where the duo played together. He proudly states how during the celebrity event in LA, Phelps paired up with NHL legend Mario Lemieux and beat MJ on the course at Shadow Creek.

I remember I came out for a practice round the day before and he was like 72-69. And [Mario] Lemieux and I went out and beat him the next day. But it was crazy.

Phelps admires Jordan is “just so good” at the game of golf and how “his competitiveness comes out” on the field. He recalls watching MJ shoot “190-something” and a 30-footer and “I was like ‘Dude, you sh***ing me?”. “I am not talking any sh*t to him,” Phelps noted.

Phelps further reveals that he marks a smiley face on his golf balls as it helps him remain positive even during “sh***y times in the round.” He believes he can start as a scratch golfer in the next three to four years as he’s trying to maintain consistency in his plays.

While he is enjoying his time as a golfer in charity and celebrity events, fans are now also wishing to see the dream golf team come true. Hopefully, in the future, the swimming legend will reveal the potential fourth member of the team.
