LSU gymnast Olivia Dunne has become a household name on social media, especially on TikTok, where she has amassed a substantial following. Despite her rise to fame, her newfound popularity has brought negative attention and criticism.

There has been a debate among many about the appropriateness of student-athletes, like Olivia Dunne, earning money through their name, image, and likeness (NIL) deals. However, former professional golfer and social media influencer, Paige Spiranac, has defended Dunne, criticizing those who diminish the achievements of other women.

According to The U.S. Sun, Olivia Dunne is rumored to earn $2 million annually from her name, image, and likeness deals. Despite this, some believe that it is not fair or acceptable for student athletes to monetize their image. However, Paige Spiranac holds a different perspective and supports Dunne’s decision to earn money in this manner.

“I’m so sick of women belittling accomplishments of other women because it’s done differently than they would,” she tweeted. “@livvydunne is getting hate for making 2 million a year. She’s built a successful business (at 20) all while being a student-athlete. That’s badass.”

Dunne has also faced criticism for the behavior of her fanboys, who have repeatedly chanted “Livvy, Livvy, we want her” outside of gymnastics meets. According to a video posted by former NCAA champion Sam Peszek, the men’s behavior was “scary and disturbing and cringey.”

LSU head coach Jay Clark has since announced that the university will take extra security measures to protect Dunne and the other gymnasts on the team. “I take our team’s safety and security very seriously,” Clark told ESPN. He mentioned that there would be a “perimeter” of security when the team is getting on and off the bus, and they’re changing the way the gymnasts can meet their families, friends, and fans after a competition
