“Stay there if you’re so happy” Paige Spiranac targets LIV golfers over PGA Tour lawsuit

In the midst of the ongoing conflict between leagues, Paige Spiranac is commenting on the latest antitrust case brought by 11 LIV Golf players against the PGA Tour. On Wednesday, Phil Mickelson, Bryson DeChambeau, and nine other LIV teammates sued the PGA Tour after it barred them from competing while they were still a part of the contentious Saudi-sponsored league. As word of the lawsuit emerged online, Spiranac responded to the public spat on Twitter by making fun of LIV players.

The PGA Tour’s Jay Monahan threatened to ban players if they left the PGA Tour for the rival circuit, which features only eight events this year and 14 the following year, prior to LIV Golf’s debut event in June. Due to this, several of the biggest names in the sport have now been suspended, including Dustin Johnson, who reportedly received more than $100 million for joining LIV earlier this summer.

The Wall Street Journal was the first to disclose on Wednesday that Talor Gooch, Matt Jones, and Hudson Swafford of LIV Golf had also asked for a temporary restraining order in the lawsuit so that they could compete in the upcoming FedEx Cup Playoffs on the PGA Tour. In a separate tweet on Wednesday, Spiranac expanded on her earlier criticism of LIV golfers for their lack of candor regarding joining the league.

Paige Spiranac talks about the enormous payouts LIV Golfers receive

“I don’t have a dog in the fight. I’m pro golf and just want the best for the game,” Spiranac said, when asked by a fan, “Are you pro or anti-LIV golf or just on the fence having fun throwing sh#t..” she continued saying. “I will say I don’t like how some of the guys aren’t transparent on why they switched over and now still want to play on the PGA.”

“You took the money now stay there if you’re so happy.” “LIV players- We want to play less golf,” the golfer-turned-influencer, aged 29, tweeted on Wednesday. “Also LIV players- We are suing so we can play more golf.”

Paige Spiranac has already discussed LIV Golf’s enormous payouts. She expressed her opinions on Twitter earlier this week in response to news that Tiger Woods had rejected the league’s $700–$800 million deal. “That is ‘eff you money, that is ‘buy an island’ money, and Tiger, he was like, ‘You know what, no thank you.’ Maybe it’s because he already has so much money he doesn’t know what to do with, he wants to protect his legacy, with a limited schedule even his body can’t play that much, maybe he wants to be a Ryder Cup captain. But Tiger, he said no,” Spiranac said Tuesday.

Prior to the British Open last month, Woods was very clear about his position on LIV Golf. “The players who have chosen to go to LIV and to play there, I disagree with it,’’ Woods said. “I think that what they’ve done is they’ve turned their back on what has allowed them to get to this position.”
