“Mo Salah can’t go play for Manchester United”: Paul McGinley compares LIV Golf Series problems with football

The recent Saudi backed LIV Golf Series has created quite the controversy in the golfing world, creating tension amongst many. As over 17 golfers have made the switch from the PGA to the controversial tour, the former has gone ahead and suspended them indefinitely. Some of these golfers include Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau and Patrick Reed to name a few.
While several golfers have gone ahead and given their opinions on the matter, the latest ones come from Irish golfer Paul McGinley, who made a smart comparison. He talked about how, Mo Salah already having a contract with Liverpool, cannot just go and play a few games for Man United and then come back.

Paul McGinley makes LIV Golf Series and Man United
“Mo Salah plays for Liverpool, he can’t just go and play for Man United for two games and then come back. He can’t go to La Liga and come back. Liverpool are also part of a league, they also can’t over and play an exhibition match and then come back and play in the middle of the season. You are contracted to the organisation, and within that contract you have to play a certain amount of events and you have to play against a certain amount of teams.”
McGinley explained why so many people found the LIV Series appealing to play in. “So they [LIV Golf] have gone in and offered hundreds of millions of dollars and they have enticed that in front of the players and said ‘let’s come over here and start our own game over here.” The LIV Golf Series has eight tournaments this year, 10 tournaments next year, 14 in year three and 14 in year four. All golfers have been contracted for these four years, explained McGinley.
