‘PGA Bombshell’ with elevated events and ‘Love for Sport’ to bridge 95 percent golf talent

‘PGA Bombshell’ with elevated events and ‘Love for Sport’ to bridge 95 percent golf talent

LIV Golf vs. PGA Tour

The PGA has not only introduced scaling up the event status but widened its purse close to a $20 million USD (a combined $127.63m AUD for the four tournaments). It includes next year’s Phoenix Open, Heritage Tournament, Wells Fargo Championship and Travelers Championship, and some others sharing the spot annually.

‘The best in golf will never be at the same place,’ said Greg Norman once, after a bunch of players departed and joined the multi-million-dollar LIV series, splitting most of the talent in two major directions. However, the PGA has just come up with a strong counter not just in words but also in actions, by elevating four events for 2023 and promising to bring together great talents in 17 of the events.

The hint at LIV gaining traction is due to some great talent moving towards it. The Saudi-backed series is riddled by controversies but will move forward for sure. One way or the other, fans will be delighted.

Star PGA players such as Rory Mcllroy who is a four-time major winner, Jon Rahm, and top-ranked Scottie Scheffler, the Masters champion, have allegedly committed to making appearances for the PGA events and playing in 17 of them. The coming together of some great players will spark a lot of enthusiasm and fan attention. It is good for the PGA versus LIV’s difficult position.

Phil Mickelson presented his opinion that the golf world was torn apart. However, when asked, Mcllroy spoke up saying, “The guys that went over to LIV, they’re the ones that have made the disruption, they’re the ones that have sort of put the golf world in flux right now.” He presented his contempt for the unnecessary propaganda in the comparison of two events.

He also added, “I certainly don’t see the PGA Tour trending downward at all. All the talent, 95% of the talent is here … I don’t agree with what Phil said. I understand why he said it because of the position he is in, but I don’t think anyone that takes a logical view of the game of golf can agree with what he said.Jay Monahan also mentioned earlier that all players agreeing to converge is a testament to their love of the sport and that for sure seems agreeable.
