“Are they playing on Nintendo WII?”: PGA Tour causes disappointment in Twitter over new announcement in retaliation to LIV Golf
Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods
The golf world has been turned upside down over the last few days, as the breaking news of changes in the PGA Tour surface everyday. The PGA Tour has now announced a new ‘Tour within a tour’ of which details were released recently. The move, spearheaded by Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods is set to bring about big changes in pro golf.
PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan recently released a statement regarding the new ‘Elevated Events’, where top players from the Tour commit to playing 20 PGA events. This also meant the expansion of the Player Impact Program which guarantees minimum league earnings for full tour members.
The top players have made a commitment to play all 12 events- along with the Players Championship, 4 majors and 3 more PGA events. “Our top players are firmly behind the Tou,” he said, “helping us deliver an unmatched product to our fans, who will be all but guaranteed to see the best players competing against each other in 20 events or more throughout the season.”
