Golf great Tiger Woods is now gearing up for a new role. The 15-time major champion was recently announced as the vice-chairman of the PGA Tour Enterprises, the new entity formed after the $3 billion investment deal with Strategic Sports Group (SSG).

The 48-year-old golfer will take on this role while serving under Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan. Meanwhile, the top golf boss will serve as the CEO for this new entity.

Apart from this, Woods will continue to serve as the Player-Director on the PGA Tour policy board member. He was appointed for this role in August 2023 to help the tour speed up the ongoing merger talks with the Public Investment Fund (PIF) of Saudi Arabia.

Currently the PGA Tour Enterprises consists of 13 members with four representatives from the SSG. Following this, Monahan would label the announcement of the board members a “milestone” claiming that the directors have the right composition to lead the newly formed entity.

Social media reactions to Tiger Woods being named as vice chairman of PGA Tour Enterprises

Since the news about Tiger Woods being named as the vice-chairman of PGA Tour Enterprises broke out, fans have attacked the tour and Woods. This is now the second time in the past week that fans have not been impressed with something related to the golf veteran.

Earlier on Sunday, the golf fans on social media bashed Woods for being named as the 2024 Bob Jones award winner. This time, they were not pleased to see the 15-time major champion being given this huge post in this new organization.

A fan on X took a brutal dig at the tour and wrote, “The PGA Tour is desperate” as they announced this. Other fans were left stunned to see why Jay Monahan was still leading the tour after his involvement in the golf merger, while one compared Woods to LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman and claimed he was no businessman like him.
