“They aren’t ready to give in” PGA Tour will not permit suspended LIV golfers to attend the FedEx playoffs
Talor Gooch, Hudson Swafford and Matt Jones
The PGA Tour isn’t even close to caving in to the LIV Golf Series. The Tour’s lawyers prepare are opposition to file a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) on Wednesday against 11 LIV golfers, including Talor Gooch, Hudson Swafford, and Matt Jones, with a deadline of Monday 8 a.m. PST.
The Tour provided a succinct and direct response in an email to the topic of whether the three players will be permitted on the premises while the TRO motion is decided at a hearing on Tuesday at a Federal Courthouse in San Jose: “No.” The three athletes declined to comment when asked about their preparations for Tuesday’s TRO motion hearing at 1:00 PST.
Following their participation in the first LIV Golf event outside of London in June, the PGA Tour suspended each of the three players. 11 players, including Phil Mickelson, filed an antitrust action against the Tour on Wednesday. The three athletes who placed in the top 125 and are typically excluded from the playoffs filed the TRO. It is uncertain whether the courts will grant them the opportunity to compete the following week.
