The ongoing golf merger is now getting closer to the deadline. With the PGA Tour still trying to find a way to get the deal done with the Public Investment Fund (PIF), the frustrations among fans and golfers have increased. Six-time major champion Phil Mickelson has now attacked Commissioner Jay Monahan for this ongoing merger saga.
Mickelson has not been shy of voicing his opinion against the top boss of the PGA Tour. He has expressed his frustrations towards him and called him out several times. He even named him as one of the reasons for helping the Saudis launch LIV Golf.

The American golfer who has been active on social media, recently saw his name being dragged again. Golf author Alan Shipnuck claimed that the LIV Golf star was telling everyone that Jon Rahm‘s potential move to the breakaway tour was done. Mickelson would call him out for this and label him as one of the worst liar and a pathetic human.
The 45-time PGA Tour star was once again seen engaging on a social media post. In a post shared on X, unconfirmed news claimed that Monahan was out of the PGA Tour. While no official announcement has been made yet, Mickelson took use of this and launched a scathing attack on his former boss through his X account. He would requote a tweet and write:
"Well said. In addition to strong arming LIV players, losing trust with his players, and all credibility with his staff, golf is in this situation entirely because of him. There’s no unity or path forward with him involved in my opinion as well."
Jay Monahan set to meet Yasir Al-Rumayyan next week to discuss golf merger
As the month of December draws closer, the deadline day for getting the golf merger deal done comes faster. As the pressure increases on Jay Monahan, the Commissioner is now set to meet PIF chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan next week.

While appearing at the recent New York Times Dealbook Summit in NYC, the commissioner made his intentions clear. He is also likely to meet a few investors next week regarding this huge merger. The 53-year-old also admitted that a large number of parties have shown their interest in this mega golf project.
During this event, Monahan also lauded himself and said he was the best leader for the PGA Tour. Whether the fans agree with him on this one is something interesting to see. Recently, golfer Xander Schauffele expressed his concerns regarding this and added that he would not mind seeing someone new in place of Monahan as the new PGA Tour Commissioner.
