Endeavor, the parent company of WWE and UFC, looked to expand their reach in golf. With the golf merger between the PGA Tour and the Public Investment Fund (PIF) still ongoing, the circuit did not accept the invitation bid from Endeavor.

They've officially turned it down. We're big fans of golf and we'll continue to champion the PGA Tour, but we are not going to be an investor at any level.

While this was something that did not bother the fans at first, the statements from Phil Mickelson have now raised some questions regarding the plans and motives of the PGA Tour.

Phil Mickelson blames Jay Monahan for the thirst for power and greed for golf split

Ever since the establishment of LIV Golf, fingers have been pointed at each other. It has also seen several relationships soured, the biggest of them being between Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods. The 45-time PGA Tour winner has now blamed Commissioner Jay Monahan for the controversial golf split and claimed he is thirsty for power and greed.

Monahan himself has been on the receiving end of the wrath of fans since the merger was announced. Mickelson has now claimed that Endeavor did not actually try to invest first, and that it was SilverLake. However, he claimed that they wanted to own the new entity with new elevated events at a 50-50 share, something Monahan was unwilling to do, according to Mickelson.

SilverLake went back to Jay again May of 2022 and the same conversation took place. Jay and Ed had 3 opportunities to have elevated events that would be fully funded an could prevent division but their need to control everything (obnoxious greed) blinded their judgement.

In the excerpt from Alan Shipnuck’s new book “LIV or Let Die” he claimed that Mickelson was scared of the Saudis. However, he wanted to get one above the PGA Tour and Monahan and thus agreed to help the LIV Golf statement.

This bold statement has once again raised questions about what was going on behind the scenes of the PGA Tour. All this has also indicated that perhaps a merger was going to come sooner or later. Speaking of the merger, it is yet to be finalized. With the days ticking down, Monahan and Co. would like to wrap that up soon.
