“Phil missed the cut? He must be LIVid!”: Phil Mickelson faces cut at 2022 Golf US Open after LIV Golf debacle

Phil Mickelson

Phil Mickelson is out of the 2022 Golf US Open, as he missed making the cut after the second round of the Tournament. This has been the first Major that he has played at after joining the Saudi backed LIV Golf Series. After facing a nightmare first round of the US Open on Thursday, he finished the first day with eight-over 78, spoiling his 52nd birthday.

However he did seem to manage to turn it around on the second day, improving his card to a three-over 73. However, with only the top 60 players progressing to the weekend, Mickelson’s 11-over par total meant his quest for an US Open victory is over. It is the only major he is yet to win. This also means that it ties his fifth-highest career score relative to par after two rounds at a major.
