The sport of golf saw a massive announcement this Friday as current World No. 3 golfer Jon Rahm switched allegiances to LIV Golf. The 29-year-old’s move confirmed the speculations going around him. 45-time PGA Tour winner Phil Mickelson has now welcomed him with a 15-word message on X.
The name of Mickelson started trending recently when golf author Alan Shipnuck dropped a huge claim. The writer informed that the “Lefty” had been going around and telling everyone that Rahm’s deal with LIV was done. Following this, the golfer would attack him and call him the “worst liar” and claim that he has no idea regarding this development.
However, Mickelson now seems to be pleased that the rumor has come true. Whether he had any hand in this deal is uncertain, but the six-time major champion was nonetheless happy for Rahm on social media.

While the American golfer was pleased to see the reigning Masters champion join them, fans were unhappy with him. Several users called him out for this move and brutally slammed him on social media.
Brooks Koepka eager to face off against Jon Rahm
The switch of Jon Rahm to LIV Golf was one of the biggest shocks the sport has seen this year. The Spanish golfer who had previously denied joining them had suddenly jumped ships. As the PGA Tour members tried to stabilize themselves from this shock, the LIV golfers were pleased with this move. One of Rahm’s rivals Brooks Koepka is now eager to face him again.
The two golfers have enjoyed plenty of success in recent years. They were even locked in together at the Masters tournament this year where Rahm was able to shake off Koepka and claim the green jacket. The LIV star was able to rectify his mistakes at this event as he claimed the PGA Championship a month later.
Now that Rahm has joined LIV Golf, he will go up against some of his rivals including Koepka. In his post on X, the five-time major winner would share an image of him and Rahm and write, “Ready for more Sunday battles.”
The rivalry between these two golfing superstars was also seen at the 2023 Ryder Cup. The American golfer had accused Rahm of “acting like a child” following the first day of play. Rahm would later hit back at him and claimed he was happy for who he was.
This tension between them could bring more spicy battles to LIV Golf. It is expected that the World No. 3 will have his own team and lead them out as their captain. For now, it remains to be seen what changes will the 54-hole circuit have after they successfully landed Rahm.
