Brooks Koepka, one of the biggest names in golf, has reportedly expressed regret over his decision to leave the PGA Tour for the LIV Golf League. According to Alan Shipnuck of The Fire Pit Collective, Koepka feels “buyer’s remorse” after taking the money offered by LIV Golf League.
Despite doubts about his long-term health, he joined the league in June 2022 for a fee of around $100 million. Koepka had been dealing with serious knee and hip injuries before joining LIV. He allegedly confided in those closest to him that he wasn’t sure if he would ever be fully healthy again.
The LIV Golf League has been a polarizing newcomer to the golf industry, and it remains uncertain if it can sustain competition with the well-established PGA Tour. While the likes of Koepka may have viewed joining LIV as a favorable move initially, its ultimate long-term payoff remains unknown.

I'm hearing a lot of rumblings that Brooks Koepka has buyer’s remorse. He took the money when his brittle body was still being put back together, and in private he has confided to folks he wasn’t sure if he would ever get fully healthy again. But now Koepka is feeling frisky and supposedly rethinking his career choice.Alan Shipnuck said about Brooks Koepka.
Since its inception, the LIV Golf League has been a contentious topic within the golf community. Numerous players have voiced concerns over the league’s perceived attempt to undermine the PGA Tour and its longstanding customs. Some have even gone as far as to label it a “money grab,” prioritizing players’ interests over the sport’s integrity.
Despite criticism, LIV Golf has managed to lure top golfers from the PGA Tour with its tempting contracts. Phil Mickelson, the six-time major champion, is among the league’s most ardent endorsers, having strongly hinted that he signed a $200 million deal. He has openly praised the league’s imaginative format and amplified visibility.
Koepka’s future in golf remains uncertain. As he continues to lead Smash GC as their captain, it might something huge for Koepka to leave the Saudi-backed tour and re-join the PGA Tour circuit.
