“Cannot have it both ways,” Senator Richard Blumenthal WARNS PIF governor Yasir Al-Rumayyan of legal action over refusal to testify on SHOCKING PGA-LIV merger
Senator Richard Blumenthal has once again asked PIF governor to appear before them and testify the merger. If he fails to show up, the US Senate will be forced to use other legal methods.

In June, the golfing world received one of its major shocks when the PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan announced a merger with LIV Golf. This move sparked several controversies as players, fans, and experts jumped in to share their views. The sudden deal also caught the eye of the US Senate, who later issued summons to the top bosses to testify before them.
During the testimony, big names like Greg Norman and PIF governor Yasir-Al Rumayyan failed to appear. They cited work conflicts as a reason for not showing up. Senator Richard Blumenthal has once again issued summons and warned Al-Rumayyan of legal action if he fails to appear this time.
As per the Golf Channel, in a letter dated August 4, the lawyers of Al-Rumayyan dropped a huge statement regarding his involvement. They told the Senate Subcommittee that he would become “an inappropriate witness” who will be “bound by the Kingdom’s laws regarding the confidentiality of certain information.“
Reacting to information, Blumenthal responded by stating that they cannot have it all their way. “In short, PIF cannot have both ways,” Blumenthal said before adding that “if it wants to engage with the United States commercially, it must be subject to United States law and oversight.“
What if Yasir Al-Rumayyan fails to show up before the US Senate?
The initial hearing before the Senate was only attended by PGA Tour COO Ron Price and Jimmy Dunne. Yasir-Al Rumayyan, LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman, and PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan were absent from the meeting. The severity of this merger has led the Senate to intervene and once call the leaders. If they fail to show up this team, the Senate might be forced to use some other legal methods.
The reason why Al-Rumayyan declined to attend these meetings has surprised everyone. He had previously asked for sovereignty immunity to enter the United States. If he fails to show up this time around, the potential deal could face severe consequences. The Senate also holds the power to unapprove the likely PGA-LIV golf merger if they feel that the deal would put the country in jeopardy.
Blumenthal has also asked Al-Rumayyan to submit valid documents regarding the deal. The Senator has given a deadline of August 18 for the PIF governor to submit them and has summoned him to appear on September 13. The question now remains is whether he will be present at this meeting. If Al-Rumayyan declines to show up the Senate could dismiss the case and cancel the deal. However, the chances of the deal falling through appear to be very low.
