The 2023 Ryder Cup had some unforgiven moments. The biennial tournament which eventually saw Team Europe win against Team USA, witnessed a huge outburst from Rory McIlroy on the second day. The North Irishman was unpleased with the antics of caddie Joe LaCava at the greens and exchanged few words with him. He has now revealed that the beef between the two has been resolved.

LaCava currently serves as the caddie of Patrick Cantlay. Before joining him, he was the main man for the legendary Tiger Woods. It was in fact this year where the duo decided to go their separate ways since 2011. Given the current relationship between Woods and McIlory, it was likely that he had crossed paths with him many times before.

Following the incident, McIlroy refused to speak to any of the USA players on Sunday. He would later claim that this was done by him so that he could focus on himself during the final day. His recent comments now suggest that the water is under the bridge between these two golf personalities.

"For me, the incident happened, I purposely didn't want to meet anyone on Sunday morning because I wanted what had happened to fuel me for that day. My whole focus was let's make sure Europe win the Ryder Cup and then we will sort all the other stuff out afterwards. And it's all fine. We're all friends now".
Rory McIlroy said as per BBC.

What exactly happened between Joe LaCava and Rory McIlroy that led to this fight?

The golfing world was left in shock when a video of Rory McIlroy losing his cool in the parking lot emerged. He was left annoyed by the antics of Joe LaCava and made sure to fire back at him. However, what exactly led to this fight between the two in the first place?

The answer to that is Patrick Cantlay. The American golfer was heckled all day from the European home support after reports emerged that he had refused to sport a hat due to them not getting paid. The crowd would jeer him while waving their hats.

Cantlay nicknamed “Patty Ice” for his coolness once again proved his nickname right. He kept his cool and came up clutch to emerge victorious with Wyndham Clark against McIlroy and Matt Fitzpatrick. LaCava would join in the celebrations and wave his hat to the annoyance of the four-time major champion. As per McIlroy, LaCava was also blocking him during the final hole as he tried to putt his shot away.

The PGA Tour policy board member also admitted that the caddie came into the locker room of the Europe Team to end the fight. “All well that ends well” is probably the right way to describe this feud.

With the PGA Tour schedule now consisting of Fall events, McIlroy has turned his attention to other business ventures. He recently spoke about his investments in F1 and revealed how he would like to invest in the soccer club, Manchester United. He will also be looking forward to the TGL league co-owned by him and Tiger Woods and hope for a good start in that tournament.
