PGA Tour player Rory McIlroy was never interested in partnering up with LIV Golf, but recent incidents have just doubled down on his hatred towards the Saudi league. In the latest US Senate hearing a document stated the possibility of McIlroy and Tiger Woods possibly owning a LIV Golf team.

While some fans had already expected what the Irishman’s reply would be, McIlroy just validated them claiming that even if LIV Golf was the “last place to play golf on earth I would retire.” His hatred for LIV doesn’t only stop there. McIlroy once stated, “I still hate LIV…I hope it goes away.”

While Rory McIlroy has already blasted the controversial talk, Tiger Woods is yet to give his statement. Since the golf merger was announced in early June, Woods has refrained from speaking to the media regarding the deal. The deal ensured $1 billion in pocket money.

Following the US Senate hearing, Rory McIlroy was asked what he thought of owning a LIV Golf team. While some knew the answers to his reply, fans were still curious to bite the bullet from the PGA Tour player himself.

The document stated that not only will McIlroy and Tiger Woods get ownership of LIV teams but they will also get to participate in 10 events. Although Woods has yet to make any comments regarding this statement, McIlroy’s repulsion is very well scripted

McIlroy commented that at this very moment, he’s feeling apathetic towards everything. He’s said that he’s happy “to distance myself for a bit” from all the ongoing merger noise and concentrate on improving his play instead.

Since the inception of LIV in 2022, the golfing world has continuously faced challenges. The two leagues have been pointing swords at each other with McIlroy and Woods leading PGA Tour. The golf merger was unprecedented as no player or even CEO Greg Norman was aware of its birth.

The merger did manage to find a single ground to stand on, but PGA blasted CEO Jay Monahan for his actions. Starting with McIlroy concentrating on playing and no more media time, many players voiced out their disappointment. The latest was Xander Schauffele, who blatantly stated that Monahan failed to keep the “trust” of PGA Tour players.
