“I don’t know what to say”: Sam Burns talks about comeback victory at 2022 Charles Schwab Challenge over Scottie Scheffler
Sam Burns
American golfer Sam Burns overtook friend Scottie Scheffler to win the Charles Schwab Challenge. Burns has won three times on Tour this season and managed to match the biggest comeback in Colonial Country Club history after he started the day seven shots back.
Talking about the win, Burns said that it was unexpected for him. “I was just talking with Travis and the holes at the back were so hard with the wind direction that there was. A lot of crosswinds and really hard to judge if it was a little in or a little help.” In the end he didn’t know what to say after that, and taking the Charles Schwab title for him was amazing.
Sam Burns had fun playing alongside friend Scottie Scheffler
Commenting about his putt and playoff, Burns was seen shaking his head during the event. “To be honest I thought I left it short. I guess these greens got a little faster the last time I had a putt on these greens. But yeah, Scottie’s one of my best friends out here and just for us to be able to have an opportunity to play against each other is really fun,” said Burns to golfchannel.com. Scottie Scheffler is Burns’ best friends and playing with him in the Charles Schwab challenge was an honour for the latter.
Burns went on to say, “Great memories for me, he may feel different.” But Burns said that he loved Scottie, and he had fun playing him. Finally, everyone feel’s like Burns has got all the skills to take the next step, and the next step is that Major Championship.
