“Lost his cool”: Scottie Scheffler angrily slams driver into bag after mistake at 2022 PGA Championship

Scottie Scheffler
The 2022 PGA Championship is off to a cracking start, as some of the biggest names in golf come to the big stage to show their talent. Amongst these include Tiger Woods, Jordan Spieth, Rory McIlroy, and recent 2022 Masters winner, Scottie Scheffler.
While Rory McIlroy took the lead after the first round of the PGA Championship, the same cannot be said for the top favourite Scheffler, who struggled a bit. Often known for his calm nature, Scheffler is not one to easily lose his cool. Usually remaining calm, this time he showed through the cracks, losing his temper as the first round came to an end.
He already had two consecutive boogeys behind him, and then on the final hole, the 25-year-old sliced his drive what looked to be dangerously close to the water on the right of the fairway. When Scheffler went down to the ball he saw that it had actually fallen into the water. This forced Scheffler to take a penalty drop, something which he did not want considering he wants to win the Championship.

After seeing that his ball had gone into the water the usually calm Scheffler lost his cool, as the television cameras caught him angrily slamming his driver into his bag. However, he was able to hit a fantastic third shot, within 15 feet of the pin and sink the resulting putt to save a par.
As the 2022 PGA Championships set to start the second round, Rory McIlroy leads the pack after round one alone, with Will Zalatoris and Thomas Hoge taking joint second place. Tiger Woods put up a brave performance, fighting his injuries and pain, finishing in T83.
