“He’s eyeing another win”: Scottie Scheffler sole leader after intense 3 days at Charles Schwab Challenge
Scottie Scheffler
Scottie Scheffler is back on track for the Charles Schwab Challenge, after facing a disappointing cut at the PGA Championship last week. The current world leader is now also the sole leader for the Charles Schwab challenge.
Scheffler made another round at the Colonial almost without a bogey on a gusty day, but good enough for him to take first place. He shot a 2-under 68 with wind gusts of around 30 mph. Consecutive birdies to start gave him a two stroke lead right at the beginning. His 11 under total has now put him ahead of second place sitters Brendon Todd and Scott Stalling.

The only bogey for Scheffler was a three-putt from 37 feet at No. 17, where his 5-foot par chance slid just left of the cup. He got that stroke back with a 31-foot birdie on his final putt of the day. Todd on the other hand, finished with a 9 under after a 31-foot birdie putt at the par-3 eighth hole. Then, the second birdie of the day came at No. 2 after he opened with an 8-foot eagle putt at the 551-yard first hole.
Pereira finished at No. 18 with a 50-foot putt for his third birdie in the last five holes for a round of 68 to put him at 6-under 204. On the other hand, world no. 5 Justin Thomas and recent PGA Championship runner up Will Zalatoris missed the cut after the first two rounds.
