“The course is playing harder than it typically does”: Scottie Scheffler tied at top in Charles Schwab Challenge
Scottie Scheffler
Masters winner Scottie Scheffler had a rough week to say the least at the PGA Championship, after he failed to make the cut for the second round. However, he is back in full swing once again at the Charles Schwab Challenge, as he is currently tied for first place.
Scheffler is among the top 8 players who shot 4-under 66 on Thursday, but the only one in the group without a bogey. Cam Davis, Beau Hossler, Chris Kirk, Patrick Reed, Webb Simpson, Nick Taylor and Harold Varner III are the other players who are tied with Scheffler.
“The course is playing harder than it does in a typical year here. Yeah, I felt like I did a really good job of managing myself around the golf course,” Scheffler said to espn.in. “Anytime you make no bogeys, it’s going to be a good round.”

Colonial, the longest-running PGA Tour event at the same venue since 1946, had never had more than five players share the first-round lead. Scheffler, Reed, Simpson and Varner were part of the morning wave that took off and started the game of tie. On the other hand, defending champion Jason Kokrak and Jordan Spieth shot a 69.
“It feels good to get a number out of it,’‘ Reed said about shooting a 66. “Honestly, I feel like there’s been too many days that I’ve done a lot of things really well, just the number hasn’t really reflected it.” The second day of the Charles Schwab Challenge will be starting soon, as golfers fight it out for the top spot.
