The LIV Golf series has had quite the negative repercussions for all golfers who have decided to make the switch from the PGA Tour. Golfer have been indefinitely suspended, sanctioned and in recent news Henrik Stenson was stripped of his Ryder Cup captaincy. However, golfer Sergio Garcia is still holding his horses as he hopes to have a shot to play the Ryder Cup. To aid his decision he has also held off from resigning from the DP World Tour as of now.
Garcia said that his decision was also inspired after he had a conversation with Jon Rahm. To play the Ryder Cup, one has to be a member of the DP World Tour, which Garcia had thought of retiring from after the Open Championship. “But thanks to the things that Jon Rahm said. And I had a couple of good conversations with guys on the (DP World) Tour. I’m gonna hold off on that. I want to at least see what’s happening when the Ryder Cup qualification starts,” said Garcia to Bleacher Report.

His talk with Jon Rahm ensured that Garcia still wants to see what is happening on the scene. “If I agree with what they (are), I’ll definitely keep playing whatever I can on the Tour and try to qualify for that Ryder Cup Team. And if not, then we’ll move on. But it is definitely something that is in my mind.” Jon Rahm recently went public with his plea to let all LIV golfers play the Ryder Cup.
Talking to the PGA Tour and the DP World Tour, Rahm said, “Hopefully a simple solution is found. It’s such a beautiful sport that it is a pity there are certain fights between the DP World Tour, the PGA Tour and LIV Golf.” Golfers want to see a camaraderie between the PGA Tour, DP World Tour and LIV Golf Series, so that all golfers can enjoy the sport despite their loyalty to different tours.
