Golfer Talor Gooch is currently having the time of his life. The American registered his name in history books as he became the first player to win two successive LIV tournaments. To sum it up in stats, he is 36 under for his last 6 rounds. A strong performance like this has caught the eyes of many worldwide. Despite winning two back-to-back titles, his world ranking dropped from 57 to 60.

The debate and controversy following the Oficial Golf World Rankings (OWGR) have made various headlines. The OWGR is the official measurement for rankings, allowing players to participate in major championships and tournaments. However, OWGR points are not distributed to LIV players because of the game length.

There was huge spat on Twitter between Phil Mickelson and Colt Knost regarding this matter as well. LIV CEO Greg Norman has already made an application to receive OWGR points. His application is yet to be reviewed though. Gooch was recently invited to take part in the US Open but soon found that he is suspended from the PGA Tour for joining the Saudi-backed breakaway league.

Gooch has been in fantastic form in recent weeks. He won the LIV Adelaide a few days before scooping home the title of the LIV Singapore. LIV events are famous for their total prize pool and winning both tournaments has seen him make $8 million ($4 million each) from winning the two competitions. However, he has significantly made less in his bank account.

Gooch informed about this development while appearing at a podcast. He explained that due to Australia’s tax laws, his winning amount of $4 million was reduced by a significant amount. “It was a little bit disheartening. It sucked that 47-and-a-half percent was withheld from Australian taxes, unfortunately. I am by no means complaining, but the four million dollars, once you cut it, let’s just say it’s lot less than four,” he mentioned.

As a result, Talor Gooch was left with a cash prize of $2.1 million. His further earnings went towards his team, RangeGoats. This victory has elevated him to the top of the standings this season. His team, meanwhile, are currently ranked fourth. Gooch now has his sight set for a hattrick of wins as he takes part in Oklahoma event, which begins on May 12.
