Netflix’s upcoming golf docuseries ‘Full Swing’ will be released on 15 February 2023. The new series has made many comparisons to similar series from other sports, such as Formula 1 racing and soccer. The new series will be delving deeper into the lives of professional golfers and their relentless competition throughout the golfing seasons.

However, Telegraph UK journalist Alan Tyers does not have many kind words to spare in his review for this new docuseries. While he believes Full Swing is following suit to bring golf into mainstream popularity, Tyers also says that in this new series, every entity shown is “like an entitled homeschooled 12-year-old.”

Speaking of the very first episode of the series, Tyers also touches upon the defection of golfers to LIV Golf, saying, “this viewer at least would happily have shipped every single one of the golf pros and their camp followers off to Saudi Arabia, never to be heard of again.

Netflix and Amazon Prime are the latest destinations for sports marketing. Starting suit from Drive to Survive, Formula 1 has gained a massive increase in its viewership, with several F1 fans coming directly after watching DTS. Furthermore, other sports, such as soccer, also have their series of documentaries, with the ‘All or Nothing’ series for several soccer teams helping them gain marketability.

Produced by Box to Box films, Full Swing will be delving essentially into the professional field and experience of being a PGA golfer. Furthermore, the episodes also carry some rare footage of emotions and drama, which long-time golf fans would enjoy watching.

The golf world has seen a drastic change, with several golfers seeking fame outside of the PGA. With the creation of the new LIV Golf circuit, with CEO Greg Norman and funded by the Saudi Public Investment Fund, a new schism has appeared, creating a divide within the golf community.

The author of the Telegraph review mentions a quote from Amanda Renner of CBS which pretty much sums up the sport of golf. Renner says the players are on a quest to get the lowest score possible in this sport. The author has also touched upon the schism in golf quite elaboratively and has given a detailed expression of how it spanned out for the golfing community.

Full Swing will be released on Netflix on 15 February 2023 and feature some legendary golfing stars such as Rory Mcllroy, Jordan Speith, Justin Thomas, and Colin Morikawa. The series will feature eight episodes, each almost 49 minutes long.
