The one major announcement golf fans had been waiting for is finally here. On Saturday, 15-time Major champion Tiger Woods announced his return to golf greens. He is now all set to take part in the upcoming Hero World Challenge as he named himself as one of the participants for the tournaments.

This will be the first time he has been on the competitive scene since his injury at the Masters tournament. He would undergo a subtalar fusion surgery on his knee which kept him sidelines for months.

This is however not the first time he has done this. Last season Woods was in doubt for the tournament but later confirmed his position late on. The speculations regarding his return had grown strong after he issued an update on his knee.

The news of his return was broken by TGR LiveEvents account on X which wrote that host Woods was joining to play in the Hero World Challenge. He is also joined by Justin Rose and Lucas Glover as replacements for Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele.

Social media reactions to Tiger Woods return announcement

The golf fans were left with their heart broken when Tiger Woods had to withdraw from the Masters tournament in April. Since then they had been patiently waiting for an update regarding his head. Many were left scratching their heads on whether he would even make a return or not given his previous injury record and age.

However, Woods has now confirmed that he will be taking part in a golfing event for the first time since April. While the Hero World Challenge may not be an estimated event with huge titles on the line, it does give the fans a chance to see him in action once again.

Users on social media have been roaring like a Tiger since Woods’ place in the event was confirmed. One user happily wrote, “Christmas came early,” in reference to good news regarding him. Here are a few other’s reactions including that one on X below:

It will be interesting to see how he does at this event. Since his car crash, he has only appeared in five events while applying the 72-holes on only two occasions. As he prepares to get ready for the TGL event as well, this could serve as a good event to get back in shape for Woods.

The Hero World Challenge will take from the Albany Golf Course on November 30 and conclude on December 3. Norwegian golfer Viktor Hovland will enter the event as a two-time defending champion and set his sights on a three-peat of the challenge.
