After weeks of speculations, on Monday, golf great Tiger Woods announced his departure from Nike. The 15-time Major champion took to his social media account to inform about this. This brought an end to a legendary 27-year partnership between the two parties.

Woods, 48, has been connected with Nike since his early days as a professional. After signing his first professional contract with them in 1997, the golfer has taken Nike to new heights.

Ever since his car accident in 2021, Woods’ playing time on the field has been severely limited. Following this, he was seen using different shoes rather than Nike, leading to speculation about a rift between the two. These talks grew further when he once again used gear from a different sponsor during his comeback at the 2023 Hero World Challenge.

Nike waves goodbye to Tiger Woods through emotional post

Going on separate ways could be very emotional in life. Some golf fans going through this emotion as Nike and Tiger Woods have now decided to go their separate ways. The company would share an emotional post while reacting to this development and waving him goodbye.

The two of them have been together since the start of Woods’s career. In that time frame, the two parties have experienced the highs and lows of life together.

Taking to their Instagram account, the company would post an image of Woods celebrating with an eight-word message:

Where does Woods go from here, is the next big question in the minds of many golf fans. The name of TaylorMade, the company whose equipment he has used since 2017 has come up. However, on Monday, they declined this and claimed they only made equipments.

There have also been reports that Woods could launch his own apparel line. With no official confirmation yet regarding his future, the names of several more big brands will likely be thrown in the mix. Only time will reveal who will be the next sponsor of the legendary golfer.
