When Tiger Woods congratulated Jon Rahm on the win, Rahm admitted to copying Woods, “He said, ‘Well, I never won here’”. “I was like, ‘At least I looked like you off the tee this week,’ because it wasn’t my most accurate week.”

“But my irons were always strong, my short game was strong, and I didn’t have my best stuff today, but I pulled through when I needed to.” He beat Max Homa to secure the title of No. 1 in the Official World Golf Ranking. Rahm went on to talk about the history of the Riviera Country Golf Club, and Tiger Woods being the host and the legend of the field.

Rahm said securing 3 PGA Tour wins at the beginning of the year felt “incredible”, stating “it’s a pretty big deal”, “As a historian of the game, to be able to win a tournament hosted by Tiger and the one hosted by Jack (Nicklaus at the Memorial) as well, it’s pretty incredible”.

Homa commented on his loss, “I just wanted to keep pushing him and I didn’t want it to be over, and when that missed, it was over”. “I’m not disappointed in my golf, I’m just disappointed in the ending.” CBS’s lead analyst Trevor Immelman said of Rahm’s win, “It’s Tiger-esque”.

Rahm grabbing a win early in the season stated his spirits were being lifted. He’s looking forward to his next match as commented this is one of the best seasons of his life, “Having the best season of my life and hopefully I can keep it going”.
