The year 2009 was a pretty tough one for both of these sporting greats. As Woods continued to suffer injuries, he was recommended a doctor by Rodriguez. It was reported that the multiple-time PGA Tour winner paid over $200,000 to A-Rod’s doctor, Anthony Galea. It turned out that the doctor was involved in some unapproved drug cases.
Rod himself has been under the heat of the fans for his involvement in the performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs) case. He was later suspended for the use of them. The doctor would later come into the spotlight for using unapproved drugs for treatment.
Galea was later accused of using the human growth hormone for the treatment of players. The Canadian medical professional would later admit guilty to these accusations and the smuggling of drugs. This brought up a serious question about the character of Woods, as he and Galea came into contact on several occasions and worked on the treatment of the golfer.
Is Tiger Woods’ legacy affected by paying Alex Rodriguez’s doctor?
There is no denying that Tiger Woods and Alex Rodriguez have been the modern-day greats of their respective sports. However, a question now arises as to whether Woods’ legacy will be affected by paying off Rodriguez’s doctor.
There have been questions about the legacy of A-Rod in baseball. Despite all these years, there are several people who still slam him for the use of PEDs to improve his performance. He even admitted his mistake, accepted the punishment, and claimed this was the reason he was never in the Hall of Fame conversation. So what about Woods?

Anthony Galea would treat Woods with a platelet-rich plasma injection. Both of them have since affirmed that they had followed the legal procedure, with the doctor refusing to admit HGH to the golfing great. Galea would also bring him his assistant, Dr. Mark Lindsay, who would also help in treating Woods at his Florida home.
Woods’ former coach, Hank Haney, also claimed that he did not think anything illegal happened between the golfer and the controversial doctor. Galea was also reported to have high-profile clients from the MLB and NFL. As for Woods, he has continued to struggle with injuries over the years since this incident came out.
