“My body needs more time to get stronger”: Tiger Woods pulls out of 2022 US Open, focuses on British Open instead

Amidst the controversy of the recently launched Saudi backed LIV Golf Series, Tiger Woods was reported to have pushed away a 9 digit figure to play. However, the veteran has recently announced that he will also be pulling out the the US Open, scheduled to be held from 16th to 19th June at the Country Club.
Woods has managed to play both the Masters as well as the PGA Championship. Woods made the cut at both the Masters and the PGA Championship, something several golfers could not manage to achieve. He will however, skip the 2022 US Open and shift his focus on St. Andrews instead, where he clearly intends to play.

“I previously informed the USGA that I will not be competing in the U.S. Open as my body needs more time to get stronger for major championship golf,” Woods tweeted. “I do hope and plan to be ready to play in Ireland at JP McManus Pro-Am and at The Open next month. I’m excited to get back out there soon.”
In 22 U.S. Opens, Woods has won three times, finished in the top five seven times and missed five cuts. He has however, played only one US Open since making the cut in 2013. The horrific car crash last year has left quite the impact on Woods, as he struggles with pain at every tournament he has played this year so far.
