Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy ‘are taking all the money’ and not growing the game of Golf: LIV Golf Pro

Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy have been at the centre of the golf world recently. The LIV Golf Series has not failed to cause its fair share of controversy since its inception a few months ago. Now onto their fourth event, the field is growing stronger as the days pass by. Some big golf names have made the switch from the PGA Tour, angering those loyal to the same. Woods and McIlroy were both the first and the biggest critics of LIV Golf and its new way of playing.
Woods and McIlroy have ripped the Series apart several times, and were even at the forefront of the new ‘tour within a tour’ that the PGA Tour came up with. The new Elevated Events aims to bring together the most elite golfers in the world, allowing them to play more tournaments for more cash prizes. However, LIV Golf was quick to criticise this, saying that it was too similar to what they were doing.
Recently, a LIV Golfer who wished to stay anonymous came forth and spoke about what the PGA Tour is doing, especially as McIlroy joins Woods as the face of the sport. “I admire the likes of Rory and company for getting together and recognising what an awful idea the LIV tour is. But they have come up with completely the wrong answer,” said this anonymous golfer according to Golf Magic.

The PGA Tour is not growing the game of golf, especially Tiger Woods and McIlroy
“They have the moral high ground. So why not be about growing the game? Why not be about dispersing money around the world in order to grow the so-called feeder tours? They are making enough money at the top, so what not create opportunity? Instead, they are taking all of the money.” He said that this showed that even good people who were trying to do what’s best could do some really stupid things.
“Where does [Keith] Pelley [the DP World Tour chief executive] think giving away the top-10 players on his tour at the end of every year actually leads? It’s madness. There has to be something we’re not seeing. But I’m not sure what it is.” The LIV Golf series is plowing ahead with the fresh way to play golf, and it will not be changing anytime soon.
