Tiger Woods is gearing up for a rather awkward weekend soon. The LIV Golf Series has caused its fair share of controversy since its inception. The uphill battle for the Saudi backed series finds no end, even as it jumps into its second season. Tension runs high amongst golfers as the world is split in 2- those that remained loyal with the PGA Tour and those who defected to the LIV Series.

The delicate situation needs to be put aside, especially for the tradition that Augusta carries. “Scottie’s the winner, it’s his dinner. So making sure that Scottie gets honoured correctly but also realising the nature of what has transpired and the people that have left, just where our situations are either legally, emotionally, there’s a lot there,” said Woods.

The LIV Golf series might be controversial, but Tiger Woods said that it is a conversation that needs to be addressed. “If you go back to this week at Genesis last year to where it’s at now, we all have to say it’s been very turbulent,”  said Woods, as he prepares to make his comeback after 8 months.

“We never would have expected the game of golf to be in this situation, but it is, that’s the reality.” The tension in the golf world right now is at an all time high, with the golfers split about their opinions.

“We are in the process of figuring all that out and it’s been a variety of different models, different opinions, trying to figure out what is the best product and competitive environment and what we should do going forward,” said Woods. The LIV Series is looking to reshape the face of golf over the next few years.

With a fresh new format, team style play, and not cuts, it is definitely a new way of looking at golf. “Yes, limited fields, what’s the number. Cuts? Yes or no. What’s the number, what do we go to. How many players are playing the event? OK, what is the ability to get into the designated events?”

However, for now the LIV Series and the PGA Tour are not on the best terms. The LIV Series gears up for its second season with new teams and new players, while the legacy of the PGA Tour remains forever.
