Genesis International just became a lot more interesting with Tiger Woods walking on the field without a cart, pulling out elaborate pranks, and playing his best after the 2021 car accident. On Thursday, Woods pranked Justin Thomas by passing on a tampon in front of hundreds of viewers.
The incident took place shortly after the GOAT outdriving his partner on the 9th hole at Riviera Country Club. While both the stars laughed off at the prank, some fans seemed to take offense at the incident. Some called out Woods’ prank as an “embarrassingly immature sexist prank”, while others took the joke well.
Social media sensation Paige Spiranac seemed to belong to the latter category. She did not only enjoy the joke but also asked for it to be recreated at a LIV vs. PGA Ryder Cup on Phil Mickelson. She also stood up for Woods and tweeted, “If anyone tries to cancel Tiger over this we riot. It’s funny.”

At the event, Tiger Woods discreetly handed the tampon to Justin Thomas, but unfortunately, the cameras captured the moment, bringing in mixed emotions on social media. JT instantly threw away the product and the two men went off the tee, laughing about it.
Though both the golf stars seem to have taken the moment lightly, the fans had different reactions. Rory McIlroy also joined the fury. These three stars laughed and poked fun at each other throughout the tournament.
Woods even out-shot McIlroy, to which the latter commented, “I’m going to go work on the range. I put my driver up a click in loft at the start of the week, I might have to turn it back down again”.
“I don’t like him hitting it by me.” In the first round Tiger Woods finished two-under par 69 with birdies in his final 3 holes. He finished his day with 5 shots behind Max Homa and Keith Mitchell. On Thursday Wood commented, “I don’t want to be the idiot host that missed it”.
“It was nice that I had this unbelievable pairing, two great guys, two great friends,” Woods commented according to CNN. “It was a great round. The ebb and flow of needling each other, encouraging each other and telling stories. Because I hadn’t been out here so I’ve missed some of the things that have transpired on Tour, which is kind of fun.”
Woods is still recovering from his 2021 car accident and has been through a lengthy and grueling recovery process. Throughout his debut at Genesis Open, fans could be heard shouting, “Ti-ger, Ti-ger”. Paige Spiranac including a video in her tweet noted, “Golf is just better when Tiger is playing”.
