In the latest development in the ongoing legal battle between Tiger Woods and his ex-girlfriend Erica Herman, Woods has come out swinging, accusing Herman of being a “jilted ex-girlfriend” who is using the federal Speak Out Act as a means to have her arguments heard in a public court instead of private arbitration.
The NDA at the heart of the dispute contains a sexual assault clause, but Woods maintains that he never committed any such wrongdoing. In the court documents filed on Monday, Woods argues that Herman’s use of the federal law is an abuse of the judicial process.
The documents reveal that Herman filed a $30 million lawsuit against Woods, claiming that he kicked her out of his home and broke an “oral tenancy agreement” that they had in place. However, Woods points out that when asked whether the case involved sexual assault, Herman checked the box for “No.” He further alleges that Herman’s use of the federal law is completely meritless and undermines the purpose of the statute and those it seeks to protect.
Despite never publicly accusing Woods of sexual assault, Herman’s lawsuit invoked the federal Speak Out Act, which provides a legal avenue for victims of sexual assault to speak out and seek justice. However, Woods is now arguing that Herman’s use of the statute is merely a ploy to have her arguments heard in a public court, rather than in private arbitration as required by the NDA.

Tiger Woods requests the court to force Erica Herman to abide by NDA’s arbitration provisions
In the court documents, Tiger Woods is requesting the Florida court to compel Erica Herman to abide by the NDA’s arbitration provisions. The documents also reveal that Woods provided Herman with lodging and financial support following their breakup in October 2022, after a six-year relationship.
Despite the acrimonious legal battle, Woods remains one of the most successful and iconic athletes of all time, having won 82 PGA Tour events and 15 major championships. He has also had to deal with personal scandals in the past, including a highly publicized infidelity scandal that led to his divorce in 2010. The ongoing legal battle with Herman is just the latest chapter in Woods’ tumultuous personal life.
The legal battle between Tiger Woods and Erica Herman shows no signs of abating anytime soon. Woods is maintaining his innocence, arguing that Herman’s use of the federal Speak Out Act is a transparent abuse of the judicial process. While Woods’ reputation has certainly taken a hit in recent years, he remains one of the greatest golfers of all time, and his legacy will undoubtedly endure long after this legal dispute is resolved.
