WATCH- “On the grind”: Justin Thomas gives a ‘second eye on the range’ to Jordan Spieth during Round 1 at FedEx Cup Playoffs

Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth exchange thoughts

The FedEx Cup Playoffs are well underway, and in much vigour that too. The first round of the Cup ended with an unlikely duo making the top of the players list-  Si Woo Kim and J.J. Spaun. However, there was another duo that caught the audience’s eye- Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth. The long time pals were seen on the golf course not only sharing practice time but also tips after the completion of the 1st round.

Thomas and Spieth are old friends and have known each other since they were just 14 years old, when they were picked to represent USA at the Evian Junior Masters in France. Their families were also tight knit, staying with each other during tournaments while the youngsters spent lots of time together on the course. Since then, the pair has been through the world of golf together.

Thomas and Spieth have a friendly rivalry between them. Although Thomas is three months older than Spieth, he is still a rookie in the sport. Yet, Justin has taken it very seriously to not let the ‘rookie’ outdo him just yet. They have met once again at the St. Jude FedEx Championships, and were seen together after round 1 exchanging tips about strokes.

In the video, Thomas is seen giving advise to Spieth, telling him to ‘steepen the club head’ and even recording his stroke. Spieth himself has been trying to perfect his stroke for the last two years, but golf is not an easy game to perfect. Both the golfers exchange their thoughts using golf sticks.

This comes at a time when Justin Thomas is in T31 with a -3 performance at the end of the first day, while Spieth seemed to have had a rather average day, finishing at T78 with an E performance. Yet, the next two days of play hold much excitement as golfers play their way to the top spot.
